Since we all have lost our sense of humor when it comes to gas prices I'm trying something new. Instead of you bringing your computer to the shop, or me coming to you, I'm offering service via a program called CrossLoop. You can download the program from http://www.a-bit4u.com/crossloopsetup.exe or you can get it direct from http://www.crossloop.com but there is a catch you must have high speed internet and it must be working for me to connect. I have set up a user account for you to use so you don't have to create one unless you want too. If you want to give this type of service a try give me a call. It isn't appropriate for everything and isn't a free service either but it should save time and fuel for some things. For example I've found it works well for software installation, resolving error messages, email problems and other minor problems.

I've also been forced to start charging mileage for service calls, service calls have always had a minimum of one hour and a dollar per mile one way but I've not charged the mileage if the call was over an hour. Unfortunately I've got to start charging for all calls outside walking distance from the shop. The federal mileage rate is now .51 per mile which is .02 more but I'll stick to the dollar a mile figure rounded down to the nearest mile. For estimating purposes I use Google Earth directions from 03264 to your address. For actual charges I invoice for the lesser of actual miles or Google estimates.

Starting tomorrow I will resume my presence during normal office hours. Tina has been great these past few weeks and there is little work for me to do, so please if you have a problem with your system bring it in! Due to the poor condition of most back roads I will be limiting out of office work to those locations on main roads.

Regular office hours are

Thurs, Fri & Sat  10AM - 5PM
